My Baby Girl Turned Two

My baby girl turned two this weekend. Well, if you ask her she'll tell you she is three (or "free" as it sounds coming from her mouth). I have no idea where that came from - her best buddy at daycare, Noah, is 3 - so maybe she learned it from him. Either way we are working on getting her to say that she is two! What a big girl!

I promise a picture post will follow - trust me, between Duane and I think we took a couple hundred pictures. And some of them even include people other than Emma. Imagine that! But, while thinking back over the weekend I wanted to document some of my favorite things about my little girl now that she is 2.

She is still Mommy's little peanut, weighing in at 25lbs and 32 inches tall. That puts her in the 20th percentile for weight & 30th for height. She is finally starting to be able to wear some 24 month clothing - but her skinny little doopa makes finding pants that stay up quite a challenge!

Her hair is slowly coming in - but it's definitely taking it's own sweet time. It's hard to tell what color it might be but it looks almost strawberry blonde. And she gets the cutest little fuzzy bed head after her naps. Even baldies have bad hair days!

Emma's vocabulary has exploded - literally. I have read countless times that this would happen but until it did I had no idea how fast that little brain of hers works. She wakes up in the morning asking for "eggies & toast" or "cake and dip, dip" which is Emma speak for a blueberry pancake and syrup.

She loves her yogurt and would probably eat it for every meal if I let her. And a recent favorite treat is chocolate "cream".

Not only does she talk but she sings too! She loves anything Yo Gabba Gabba. It's so cute to hear her humming or singing along to the show or CD in the car- making up her own words as she goes. She knows her ABC's (complete with an nmnop and qrx, y&z) and "Crinkle, Crinkle little star."

Aside from Yo Gabba Gabba, Emma also loves her Elmo. (And Daddy scored some seats to Sesame Street live this Spring!) She has recently gotten into "jack" (Jack's Big Music Show), Blue's Clues & Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Emma is such a little girl, and as her Uncle Brian jokes, she is turning into quite a little Diva. She is still terrified of bugs and absolutely does not like "ca ca" to be anywhere near her. And when she is not in the mood for something she is not afraid to let you know. In fact, her full-blown tantrums are hard not to laugh at. Imagine this tiny little baldie flinging herself on the floor, kicking and flailing her arms, all because mean Mommy wouldn't let her have a sippy of milk that had been sitting out overnight.

She loves her 'babies' and she almost always carries one with her wherever we go. At night, her crib is slowly becoming more and more crowded with her babies and stuffed friends. One of my favorite things to do is watch her play with her babies. She is so gentle, hugging them tightly to her chest as she "rockababy", shushing them softly while planting sweet kisses on their foreheads. She lays them down, ever so gently, holding them close to her as she sets them down. She squirts pretend lotion into her hands, rubs them together, and applies them to baby so softly.

Emma's current favorite books are "Night, night Moon", "Good Night, Gorilla" & "In Grandma's Arm's." She's obsessed with finding the "na'na" on each page of Good Night, Gorilla. And whenever Grandma (Gama) reads her In Grandma's Arm, the very last page ends with the line "I Can Fly!" Emma can anticipate it coming and says it in the same hushed whisper Grandma uses when she reads to her.

Despite her small size Emma loves to eat. And she has quite the colorful palette. She loves to dip chicken in Stubb's BBQ sauce, will eat Chipotle Carnita's like it's going out of style, and a recent new favorite fruit is pineapple! I ate a ton of pineapple while pregnant so no surprise there.

I still can't believe that Emma is two. My little baby is turning into an amazing, smart and precocious little girl. And I love her more than anything in this world.
